Every case from a clinic becomes a work order with job type, tooth number, shade and delivery date. The order lands on the production board and moves through intake, model, try-in, finishing and dispatch. Who delivers what and when stops being a matter of debate.
The problem on the floor
What happens in a lab that runs on paper slips?
In most labs the work order is still a slip. The slip goes into the case box, the box goes to the bench, and from then on only the technician working on it knows where the job is. If the owner wants to know, they walk round the benches. If the clinic wants to know, it phones.
The problem appears not with one job but with thirty running at once. Which job is two days from delivery, which is waiting at try-in, which has stopped because the shade is missing — nobody has this in one place. Delays are usually noticed on the morning of delivery day; at that point the only option is to ask the clinic for more time.
The second problem is lost information. Because shade, tooth number and job type are handwritten on the slip, an unreadable note or a skipped field ruins production from the start. The cost of doing a job twice is not only material but time you could not give to other work that day.

Tip: Entering the delivery date when the case is opened is the only field that triggers the board’s late warning. Orders left blank never appear on the late list.
What information does a work order record hold?
Clinic, patient, job type, tooth number, shade and delivery date. Photos and files from the clinic are attached to the same order.
How does the production board work?
It works like a kanban. A case is dragged through intake, model, try-in, finishing and dispatch. When the barcode is scanned, the stage advances automatically.
Can I take work from clinics that don’t use Clineo?
Yes. That clinic enters cases through the lab’s clinic portal. A clinic using Clineo sends them directly from the patient card.
Is the work order price entered by hand?
It comes automatically from the price list you define for the clinic. You can define a separate list for each clinic.
